With the explosive growth of steel production, the great development of the industry in the past 30 years has spawned a large number of steel structure factories. The earthquake tested the seismic design level of the steel structure factory. The post-earthquake damage investigation shows that under the fortification intensity, most of the industrial buildings designed according to the code have good seismic performance, which proves the effectiveness of the seismic design method and code. However, there are still some problems in the earthquake damage in strong earthquake areas and some moderately strong earthquake areas.
1. The seismic performance of the steel structure factory building is much better than that of the reinforced concrete factory workshop and the brick column workshop, which reflects the good energy dissipation capacity of the steel construction. From the perspective of seismic performance and national conditions, earthquake-prone countries should promote steel structure workshops as soon as possible, improve the seismic performance of workshops, and release excess capacity.
2. In the design of steel structure factory, the influence of longitudinal and vertical seismic action on the roof system is often underestimated. The upper chords of most concrete roof systems are damaged or even fall off in moderate earthquake areas and strong earthquake areas, and the buckling of steel braces between concrete columns is very common. It shows that the longitudinal and vertical seismic action mechanism of the powerhouse still needs to be studied, and the related design methods need to be improved.
3. From the prevalence of damage to the main roof system of heavy-duty factory workshop, it can be seen that the seismic design of the roof system is very important. Because its self-weight is greatly affected by the high and medium vibration modes, and the damage forms are various (component fracture, node fracture), it also shows that the seismic design of roof system components and nodes cannot be ignored.
4. In the strong earthquake area, the concrete roof industrial plant system is almost completely destroyed, and a few steel roof heavy industrial plants are basically intact. Although this comparison reflects the advantages of steel structure in seismic resistance, it also shows that steel structure workshop still has huge optimization space and potential in terms of seismic economy, which needs to be released through more accurate elastic-plastic design methods.
At present, although the seismic design of steel structure workshop has made great progress in recent decades, the seismic design of steel structure factory is still in its infancy.
